Liverpool have now won 13 of their last 14 matches against North London rivals Spurs, winning the league cup in 2012, and the champions league a year earlier. Before the current Liverpool vs Spurs duel all the teams had played each other 6 times, where Spurs have won five of these games.
London rivals Tottenham have a decent record against Liverpool, where they have won five of the last six matches. Liverpool and Tottenham have met 42 times and match results are as follows:
The last time these two teams met the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Arsenal were the visitors to White Hart Lane and they surprised the home side by taking the lead just 20 minutes before the interval. A goal from former Newcastle striker Demba Ba turned the score around and Tottenham went on to win 1-0.
Betting preview: With Champions League and FA Cup ends in mid-December, the Premier League will be in full-swing by the time the two London clubs meet on Saturday. Indeed, it could well be ‘League Cup Final day’ for the red half of north London as they face new manager Mauricio Pochettino, and Brendan Rodgers, who have just led the reds to a bumper start to the season.
With City on the ropes at Liverpool and Arsenal looking to bounce back from two defeats in two outings, Spurs have the strong possibility of retaining the domestic crown by Christmas – and the Champions League could also go to Mauricio Pochettino’s men. With four quarter-finals still to go, that is always a possibility and they would love to make it a quadruple. City need to win and Spurs need to draw or lose at Liverpool to retain the crown. It’s a tough ask for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, but it would be great to add the League and Cup double to their current Carling Cup achievements.
Yes, I do think they are. Just look at the clubs’ current form. City are currently on a high after hammering Liverpool twice and drawing 2-2 with the Reds at Anfield. They are not only unbeaten at their own Etihad Stadium, but are also up against a Spurs side that are under new management and also on a high after defeating City, Arsenal and Liverpool back to back. They have not lost since December 2013 and have found their form, but both Spurs and Liverpool could also be hoping for some good fortune. It’s perhaps the only way to look at this fixture.

City needed to win at Anfield on Sunday to have a serious chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season, but even though Liverpool were left a little bit shell shocked from the City performance, they still managed to secure the three points.
However, City looked like a different side from the one which lost at Arsenal last weekend, as the City players displayed some typical goalscoring dominance against the English champions. City celebrated the win by bringing City's number of goals in the Premier League season to 103. City went on to secure a top-four spot, and will almost certainly face Chelsea or Liverpool in the Champions League next season. In terms of the Premier League title race, City now have an insurmountable lead over Liverpool, who can only realistically hope to finish in the top four if City lose their last five matches.
After being runners-up to Manchester United for nearly two decades, City finally won the title in 2011 with a record of 72-51-27. The title win came down to the penultimate round of the season, where City needed to beat United at Old Trafford, as Manchester United beat West Brom 2-0. The title win was famously sealed after the final whistle went when Ray Wilkins made the winning goal line clearance.
The experienced midfielder has just seven goals in 33 appearances for the Latics this season - and scored the winner on the opening day in the 3-1 win at Aston Villa. He's been unable to replicate that form and having been dropped, he's now fallen down the pecking order.
However, he has plenty of experience and his energy would be a great asset to the likes of Nathan Jones, Adam Clayton and Nathan Baker, and although he may not start on Saturday, it wouldn't be a surprise if he came off the bench.
Leeds United boss Garry Monk gave his players the day off on Wednesday as they prepare to play Arsenal in the Emirates FA Cup final, and with Sunderland and Liverpool also absent from this season's Premier League, it's been a restful few weeks for managers David Moyes and Sean Dyche.
I actually think this is a tricky tie to pick and I would be happy to go through both teams in the draw. Boro have shown in the league and in cup games that they aren’t as big and bad as their reputation and Spurs have played well since Hugo Lloris went down. I think that we will be seeing a midfield battle with a few balls going over from one set piece to the other, while Son Heung-min and Alli will certainly look to move the ball around the opposition’s penalty area.
The away goals rule will be at play for both sides and the two have had impressive striking records in the past, with many goals coming through a pair of prolific front men. I think Gylfi Sigurdsson and Heung-min will both have big games on Saturday, while Harry Winks could be due a big game and he and Erik Lamela will certainly be looking to make an impact on this game.
I would back Spurs in the double chance market with Manchester United, with Sergio Romero having a lot to prove, as he didn’t play well at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture and fans will be hoping he can keep a clean sheet.
I don’t like Leeds and I haven’t really seen them do well against a Spurs side at White Hart Lane, where they have gone down to a draw in the past.
